Without doubt, one of the most instantly recognizable classic muscle cars has to be the unforgettable “Eleanor" 1967 Ford Mustang from the blockbuster 2000 remake of “Gone in 60 Seconds," starring Nicolas Cage, Angelina Jolie, Robert Duvall, and other famous actors. Quite likely even more popular with the viewing public than the movie itself, “Eleanor" stole the show and spurred tribute cars, including this convertible, which was reportedly built and upgraded for display use, commissioned by DuPont Canada.
Finished in Gunmetal Grey Metallic with Black Shelby-style Le Mans stripes and “G.T.500E" rocker stripes, this Eleanor-style 1967 Ford Mustang Convertible is a standout with its awesome cues including a GT500-type fiberglass hood, molded-in fender flares, front and rear spoilers, and side scoops, plus a custom front valance, twin driving lamps, a central LED light bar, Shelby-type Thunderbird sequential taillights, G.T. 500 emblems, a Shelby-style fuel cap, and nicely fitted Black convertible top finish off the exterior. Modern power is delivered by a 460-horsepower 5.0-liter Ford Coyote Ti-VCT V-8 engine and automatic transmission combination.
The underbody is restored and super clean, with factory-style Red Oxide paint applied to the unibody rails. Underpinnings include front and rear QA1 coil overs, plus Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes, and a Ford 9-inch rear end. A full-length dual exhaust system removes spend combustion gases and produces a throaty exhaust note. .
The Mustang’s restored interior features factory-style door panels, a deleted rear seat with rear speakers, and a custom console housing the shifter and various control switches. The dash features a START button, and the instrument panel features Blue lighting. Vital functions are monitored by a large-diameter speedometer and tachometer, plus gauges indicating fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. An updated Sony stereo head unit is driven by a trunk-mounted Dual amplifier and delivers the tunes via a large subwoofer and twin rear speakers. Late-model Mustang GT 5-spoke wheels and low-profile Continental tires provide road contact for this thrilling custom Mustang convertible, which pays homage to the glorious products of Shelby American and the world-famous “Eleanor" movie car. Appraised value of $200,000. Plus HST & registration fees. WE WILL TAKE ANYTHING IN ON TRADE! [email protected]
