1964 Ford Thunderbird

Produced for 1964 through 1966, the redesigned, fourth-generation Thunderbird retained the same basic structure and dimensions as before yet featured completely revised styling with an aggressive frontal treatment, lengthened hood and sculpted fenders, plus a bold new rear treatment with taillights housed inside a full-width wraparound chrome bumper. The new Thunderbirds were very well received at launch for 1964, a landmark year when the entire Ford model line earned Motor Trend magazine “Car of the Year" honors. Buyers agreed, with the new Thunderbird models generating a strong sales bump to 92,465 units in all for 1964, including 60,552 Hardtops, 22,715 formal Landau models, and 9,198 Convertibles. Finished in Red Metallic with a White roof, this 1964 Ford Thunderbird Hardtop was built with a Z-Code 390 CI Thunderbird V-8 engine, factory-rated at 300 HP with a 4-barrel Holley carburetor and paired with a Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission. The Black-upholstered interior appears highly original and includes a column shifter and center console. Features include factory air conditioning, updated to modern r134a refrigerant, plus power windows, a driver’s side remote mirror, factory AM/FM radio. The perforated White headliner is very well preserved and quite possibly original to the vehicle. A Sunpro Super Tach II tachometer and a Bosch accessory gauge cluster (oil pressure, water temperature, voltage) were added under previous ownership. Chrome and brightwork appear original and in good overall condition, notwithstanding some pitting in places noted upon inspection. The engine bay is tidy and factory accessories remain in place. The chassis and suspension are unmodified, and undercoating provides protection from the elements.
