Introduced after Ford’s annual new-car introductions, the Galaxie was Ford’s new top-level, full-size model line for 1959, differing very little at first from the Fairlane 500 series. According to its Serial Number and Data Plate, this very attractive 1959 Ford Galaxie Sunliner convertible is an early example, built on November 1, 1958 at Ford’s Chester, Pennsylvania plant. As offered, it stays true to its factory-specified Raven Black paint code with a recent and glossy high-quality refinish. The Trim Code 55 Torch Red, Raven, and White vinyl seat upholstery remains well preserved and appears to be the original material. Accented by delightful 1950s textured brightwork, the nicely preserved tri-tone door panels also appear original. Ample power is delivered by a C-Code 292 CI “Y-Block" V-8 engine, factory-rated at 200 horsepower and mated to a 2-speed Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission and 3.10:1 9-inch rear axle. Features and options include a Black power top, heater/defroster, and electric clock, plus updates including an upgraded horn and modern, yet classic-appearing AM/FM pushbutton radio. Mechanical updates include power brakes with a dual-circuit master cylinder and a Motorcraft 2-barrel carburetor with low-restriction chrome air cleaner. An added gauge cluster monitors battery volts, oil pressure, & coolant temperature. The doors, hood, and trunk lid all open and close solidly and the undercoated chassis and underbody are both sound, with the front and rear suspension maintained in driver-quality factory specification. A red snap-on boot cover is included and shows just one very small nick. The huge trunk is equipped with a factory-style plaid floor mat and houses a car cover and miscellaneous car-care items. Featuring unforgettable, one-year-only styling and very well presented and equipped for touring pleasure, including a great-sounding dual exhaust system, this 1959 Ford Galaxie 500 Sunliner convertible is ready to enjoy!
