This 1958 Chevrolet Corvette sports a restoration completed under the family that owned it from 1982 until our recent acquisition. Power is delivered by a custom-built Chevy 355 CI small-block V-8 engine backed by the rebuilt original T-10 four-speed manual transmission. Features include a dual four-barrel carburetor intake with an Edelbrock manifold and carburetors, Hooker headers, an MSD electronic ignition, and dual exhaust. Finished in 21 coats of Ditzler White paint with Silver accent coves and equipped with a White vinyl convertible top over a newer Red vinyl interior, this Corvette is accented by chrome bumpers, a driver-side rearview mirror, and dual rear bumper-exit exhaust outlets. All chrome is understood to have been re-plated during restoration and looks great. The soft top is in good condition and only lightly used. The vehicle is understood to have only seen limited in good weather under the prior long-term owners. Black 15-inch steel wheels mount full hubcaps and BFGoodrich radial tires that were installed in 2021. The interior is equipped with Red vinyl bucket seats, matching vinyl door panels, and Red trim items supplied by Corvette America. Features include manual windows and steering, a center console-mounted manual transmission shifter, and vintage-look AM/FM radio with an aftermarket speaker. Instruments include a 150-mph speedometer, a retrofitted Stewart Warner Stage III tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage, plus a console-mounted clock.Â
The 355 CI V-8 engine was custom-built for the prior owners at a performance shop in 1991. It is paired with the reportedly original, blueprinted, and rebuilt T-10 4-speed manual transmission. Engine features include chrome rocker covers, an Edelbrock dual-carburetor intake manifold, dual Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetors, chrome air cleaner housings, Dart cast-iron ‘2.02’ heads that have been ported and polished, COMP Cams 1.6 roller rockers, Manley Performance valves, a Crane ‘292’ camshaft, a double-roller timing chain and gear, an MSD electronic ignition system with Blaster 2 coil, a Pertronix Flamethrower rotor replacement, an Accel distributor cap, a Holley fuel pump, Hooker headers, and a forged crank, rods, and pistons. The valve springs were backed off each winter and the lash redone every season. According to the prior owner, the engine generates 435 horsepower. The Corvette is equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear axle with Positraction and 4.11:1 gears. Appraised value of $195,000. Plus HST & registration fees.
