1948 MG tC

Featuring classic prewar styling, nimble handling, and startling performance from its 1,250cc engine, the MG TC almost single-handedly introduced North Americans to British sports cars. The TC also served as the early racing mount of many of the top racing drivers of the 1950s, including eventual Le Mans champion Carroll Shelby, who won his first race in a TC during the early 1950s. It also helped create the British sports-car parts and service businesses in North America. This handsome MG TC was built on October 14, 1948, and as offered, it sports an older restoration and remains quite attractive. Finished in Blue Metallic paint with a Beige canvas top and Biscuit interior with Black carpeting, this TC comes with weather gear including a zippered tonneau cover and side curtains. Power is delivered by a proper 1,250cc XPAG inline 4-cylinder engine, paired with an updated 5-speed manual gearbox for relaxed cruising and better performance. Interesting features include Lucas ‘King of the Road’ headlamps, an Auster fold-out windscreen, Lucas windshield wipers, signal lights and taillights, and Cream-colored 19-inch knock-off wire wheels. The engine and surrounding engine compartment are quite tidy and well-maintained, as are the chassis and suspension, which remain in OEM specification. Accessories include a Lucas driving light and Lucas Altette horn, a RAC badge, a rear luggage rack, and a rear spare-tire carrier with a spare wheel/tire mounted. A coolant-temperature gauge, seat belts, newer correct-type exhaust, and an armrest/storage bin are desirable additions.
